Privacy policy

Effective: October 15, 2026 · Last updated: October 18, 2026

This policy explains how SparksAI, LLC (“we,” “us”) handles information when you use License to Spy and its support pages at arthursparks.com/license-to-spy/. For privacy questions, contact arthur@arthursparks.com.

The essentials: Personal hunts stay on your iPhone. Solo play works without an account. Optional Apple services support location-based rarity, leaderboards, shared groups, and notifications. The app has no ads, advertising tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

1. Information stored on your device

The app stores personal hunt names, sightings and their times, plate observations, points, badges, and progress on your iPhone. It also stores preferences such as sound, haptics, appearance, tour completion, and your scoring-state selection. A small amount of local session and review-request timing data helps avoid asking for a review too early or too often. That timing data is not sent to us.

Pending changes to shared scores are stored locally until they can sync. Personal hunt history does not automatically sync to another device through the app. Local data may be included in device backups according to your Apple backup settings.

2. Optional location for rarity scoring

You can select your scoring state manually without granting location access. If you choose automatic location, the app requests approximate location while in use and resolves the location to a state using bundled boundary data on your device.

The app uses the coordinate for that lookup and does not persist it or send it to our CloudKit group database, Game Center, analytics, or logs. The resulting state code, selection mode, and resolution time are stored locally. Individual local sightings may retain their scoring state and awarded points. Shared group records contain points and rarity information, not your scoring state or coordinates.

You can switch to manual state selection in the app’s Settings and revoke location permission in iOS Settings.

3. Optional Game Center and shared groups

When you use Game Center, Apple supplies a player identifier and visible alias. The app uses that identity to attribute your scores and submits eligible best-hunt rarity-point and plate-count records to Game Center leaderboards.

Shared groups use Apple’s CloudKit and your signed-in iCloud account. Shared records can include:

We use this data to provide groups, scoring, synchronization, notifications, support, and abuse handling. Apple hosts the shared data in a CloudKit public database. Group codes are convenient invitations, not passwords or a guarantee of private storage. Other participants can see shared activity, aliases, and standings in the app. Do not put sensitive personal information in names or reports, and do not treat shared group records as confidential.

We do not receive your Apple password, email address, or contacts from these sign-ins. Apple operates its services under its own privacy policy.

4. Notifications, sharing, and reviews

Hunt notifications are optional. If you enable them and permit notifications, Apple’s CloudKit and push-notification services deliver shared first-discovery updates. An alert can include group and hunt names, a player alias, and a plate jurisdiction. Your device’s notification-preview settings control what appears on the lock screen. You can turn updates off for a hunt or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings.

When you share a hunt recap or copy seen states, you choose where that information goes. The selected destination handles the shared content under its own terms and privacy practices.

App Store review requests use Apple’s system interface. Apple handles ratings and reviews; the app does not learn whether you submitted a rating or what rating you gave. Written App Store reviews may be public.

5. Support messages and this website

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments or other details you choose to provide. Feedback drafts include the app version, iOS version, and device model. You can review and edit the email before sending; nothing is sent unless you send it. You can optionally choose one screenshot through Apple’s photo picker. The app processes only the image you select and removes its original metadata before attaching it in Apple Mail. When another email app opens through an email link, you add any screenshot there yourself. We use support messages to answer questions, investigate problems, respond to privacy requests, and maintain necessary support records. Our email provider processes those messages to deliver and store them.

These support pages do not use advertising cookies, embedded third-party analytics, or tracking scripts. Hosting systems may process technical request information, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, and error details, to serve and secure the website. Visiting links to Apple or other destinations is subject to their policies.

6. Retention and deletion

Local game data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app, subject to any device backups. Use Settings → Clear All Seen Plates to delete personal hunts, sightings, awarded points, and badges. Preferences and group memberships remain. The app queues removal of your group scores, which needs a successful connection with the relevant account; keep the app installed and allow it to sync before uninstalling.

You can leave groups, and group owners can delete their groups. Group deletion keeps a minimal retired-code record so an old code cannot be reassigned to a new group. Some shared records, discovery/notification history, reports, or records owned by other participants may remain after clearing personal data or deleting a group. Clearing personal data does not reset Apple’s Game Center best-score records or delete other participants’ information.

Shared data is retained as needed to operate the features you use, handle abuse, and maintain service integrity. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle the request and maintain necessary records. To request access, correction, or deletion of information held by us, email arthur@arthursparks.com. We may need enough information to verify the request and identify relevant records. Never send account passwords. Apple controls its own account data, backups, and service records.

7. Your choices and security

You can play solo without social features, select a scoring state manually, manage location and notification permissions in iOS Settings, and decide whether to share recaps or contact support. We use Apple’s platform protections and service access controls, and limit our use of information to providing, supporting, and protecting the app. No storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security.

We may disclose information when needed to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal requests, or protect users and the service. Service providers handle information on our behalf as needed for hosting and support. Processing locations depend on those providers and Apple’s services.

8. Children and family use

Solo play does not require a name, email address, or app account. Parents and guardians should supervise optional social features and sharing, and can manage Apple account and device permissions. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or our practices change. The updated policy will appear on this page with a revised date, and we will provide any additional notice or choices required for material changes.
